What do you think about overpriced hotels/restaurants?

Just now I returned after having lunch at a restaurant and I was amazed to see how much they overprice things. I like Indian food and one butter naan cost me Rs 45, which is easily triple its deserved price. Similarly, a plate of "palak Paneer" cost me Rs 195, whereas you get it in a normal restaurant for around Rs. 70. Same was the case with beverages and other items. At that time I thought of reading the views of all of you. Are the overpriced restaurants a HIT in your country? Do people like to show off to their friends and neighbors by taking them out to such places?

Most of local people know not to go to hotels to eat unless they are doing something special. That is the only time we go. We go to small neighborhood ethnic restaurants for everyday eating.

Actually such places are not at all worth going it... what you said is right.. going at such places is nothing but a showoff ! I would rather go to some nice reasonable hotel...Last time when i eat a plate of veg jaipuri at hawker stall.. i was simply amused !! I wondered that time that if we are having such quality products at low price.. then why should we go at such weird places paying more and more money !
