hi there,,,,, well as we all know the slumdog millionaire has bagged 8 oscars do you really think it deserved it?????well in my view smile pinki was even better movie and was on a better topic also.....slumdog showed a negative INDIAN society to the world which exists in every country but the thing it was portrayed on INDIA it will degrade the level of INDIAN society in the world, people will now know as by SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE and not by Taj Mahal,,,,well this is a really shame for our country that such things are still prevailing in our country and a foreighner visits INDIA and prepares a movie on it ,and we people who are living over here were not even to know this part of our society,,,,,,?????well what do9 you guys say about the movie.....

To be honest, I have not seen any other nominated movies than Slumdog Millionaire so it would be bias if I judge it myself. I'm sure they're all beautiful and well-made but let's trust the judges in the Oscars; they're more experienced than us that's why they're there. There's nothing really bad about Slumdog Millionaire; I think it's just reflecting the truth about certain part of India. Hey, our country got slums, too and I'm not trying to hide that 'cause it's the truth. If there's a film that features slums like Slumdog Millionaire, it's just because it's part of the story and it's for the betterment of everyone 'cause it just exposes them to those who could help and would get attention to those who are responsible. In fact, Slumdog Millionaire puts India in the vast of Hollywood and that's a great thing, to be considered in the Oscars and for Indian actors and actresses to appreciate their talent by other well known artists in the world.

Before I go into anything, I haven't seen this movie period. I am going by what I have read in reviews and what the movie is about. YES, I truly believe that the movie deserved it. I also felt Benjamin Button deserved it too, but it wasn't to be. Despite of the fact that folks hate hearing on poverty and all, the fact that this young fella could go against the odds and be on this show that is what the world wants to see right now. Someone who can achieve against the odds and do something with their lives. Yes, it may have showed the negative aspects of India, but then no country in this earth has only good sides. America, for all it's promises and such promised "liberty and justice for all" yet some didn't get that, and we just celebrated having the first African American President. After what 230 years in it's whole existence?? that's what folks wanna see. Folks making it in spite of the odds, so yes, despite the bitter and the sweet, yes, it deserved it and I knew it would get the Oscar. I look forward to seeing it.

Dear friend, Those who know India well may at an average may not thing on India what they see in that movie. But there also other movies in foreign language which take those slums story or poor people story still we know that that might be just a part of that country. But this Oscar is a pride to India as I think and movie is just a story that is well presented for acceptance of the jury. May be the Jurasic Park, James Bond movies, other movies we know these are movies. But Slumdog Millionaire is much realistic in its story. I hope other foreigners may get what real India is. But those who got that prestigious awards are Indian too.

No its we who are ashamed to show up what we are.Its our country and we should not be ashamed to show off what we are.Even if the movie was potraying slum, it was a small girl from the slum itself who won an award which could not be won by elit people.Look at the positive side.we are talented even if we are not rich...Movie showed real phases and that's why it won... :) don't take me wrong...i replied just way tc

i haven't seen it and don't plan too but i'm sure it's over rated...many experts before the oscars predicted it would win but said others deserved it...so i wouldn't doubt it if it's over rated.

I watched the movie.I honestly don't think that it is such a great movie to win Oscar, but it is a good movie. I also didn't feel that the music of the song is such a good one. The background music used in the movie is good.

Well i have not seen either of these two films so i cannot say that whether slumdog millionaire deserves 8 Oscars or not.It would be prejudice if i say that smile pinki was better or slumdog millionaire is not good. I think people who are judging the awards are professional in this respect and they award a film on the basis of substance, theme and message which it conveys to general public.I suppose if they have chosen this film ,they have not seen anything negative towards it.This is my way of analysis.

I'm not an Indian, though it's made by British, I think the movie is flawless. It's made for western society, it really depicted well regarding the subject. So definitely, it deserve to win. Iwas 100% sure for AR Rahaman's victory. He made India proud...
