Don’t be too honest.Yeah, you’ve been flirting for months, but a first date is still “first impression” territory, so if you ‘fess up to a complete lack of funds she's likely to think you are a “LOSER” . Odds are she already knows you’re relatively impoverished, so if she’s kind, she’ll agree to a quick meal and if she’s not, she’ll want to go to a real restaurant with, tablecloths and silverware. Scour the web for free events. Borrow some money. Invite her home for dinner. As a first-date maneuver, this is a bit forward—but if she lets her guard down, she’ll be touched (and more than a bit amused) by your efforts to whip up a bowl of fettucini alfredo, thinking you’re trying to impress her in a sweet, bumbling way when in fact you don’t have nearly enough dough to buy the real article.

When I met my husband,he was just starting a business and had no income to speak of. Our first date was to a park with a picnic lunch. We talked for hours as we nibbled at the food and watched the ducks swim by. Lovely time. A walk through a shopping mall and a few small drinks were also nice. We loved to read, so we enjoyed the library and the local bookstore. Gas was cheaper then, so we would go for rides in the country. When he started to make money, we enjoyed more extravagant dates. Either way, it was the time spent, not so much the money spent.

You can do a fun date, like going to a park and pretending to be a kid, playing on the swings or merry go round, and end it with a picnic basket of leftovers from your fridge.

The first "date" with my husband was a coffee at a service station between his house & mine after work!! It didn't matter to me what we did or where we were as it was him I was interested in!!! Keep her entertained & it really won't matter what you do x x MrsL x x
