Have you ever participated in a cook off.. would you want to? If you did what type of cook off was it and if you would like to which kind would you want to participate in? I was watching the food network today when we had company over and we ended up watching this hamburger cookoff and the winner got $50,000.... for a hamburger!! the runner up for best alternative burger got $10,000. not bad for 3 hours of work... LOL so that made me think, we have so many types of people here... maybe someone has been in a cook off and won or came in the top 3 or.... maybe you have a secret chili recipe and would love to participate in one.... I have never, but I would love to go see one... so have you or would you?

I am not aware of 'cook-offs' here in Italy and it certainly sounds fun and some great prizes too - maybe I should consider moving? We have 'eat-offs' here where contestants have to eat this, that ot the other and the one who eats the most in the shortest space of time wins. Sounds revolting to me and I wouldn't be interested but 'cook-offs' sound such fun!

I've seen those cook-offs also. I consider myself to be a really good cook, very creative and people love my creations but that said I really don't have the confidence to participate in that kind of thing. I know that doesn't make sense but I don't think I could really stand out enough to win something. But for those who do win it- that is some crazy money for stuff, huh?

I participate in a Chili cook off every year. Our community does it for our Senior Citizens. It costs $10.00 to enter and when it first started there was only ribbons awarded for prizes but after a few years people started asking local businesses to donate free dinners and coupons and things so you get a nice little bag of goodies for 1st place and runner up now. And you still get the ribbons too. I have won the Blue ribbon every year except one and I got the Red ribbon that year (2nd place) All of the proceeds go to make up food baskets and pay utilitites for low income seniors in our area. It's a great event!

I've always wanted to do the Memphis in May BBQ cook off. No way I'd even come close to winning, but I love to BBQ and I have some great recipes I've been working on. And more than that, I'd just like to eat everyone elses food! :D
