Any pointers on how to overcome shyness? I'm not shy, per se, but I do have some problems socially interacting. I would say I'm more socially anxious than anything.

so was i, in my younger days. i didn't overcome shyness on purpose- i don't know, it just happened, i just changed over time, without taking realizing it at first and taking notice of it, that suddenly - voila, i'm a changed woman. LoL.

I used to be extremely shy. The only way to get over it is to force yourself to be around people. You won't overcome your shyness overnight. It takes a long time (years). You just have to keep working at it, even if your initial attempts at social interaction and talking to others are very awkward and painful (and I know that they can be). It helps if you try to make some outgoing friends, or spend more time with friends you have who are outgoing. Social skills are like any other skill - they improve with time and effort. You may have some bad experiences at first, but you have to stick with it. They'll lessen over time, and you'll gradually be more comfortable in social situations, even if you are never a "social butterfly".

trust in God and realize that He is in control. it worked for me but took a long time for the depth of His love to sink in. i still have some social anxiety myself when i forget to pray and give my problems to God. it's just stupid to hang on to them, really. He would so much rather take them off our hands for us!
