Has anybody earned from affiliate programm of Amazon

Amazon started Affiliate Program in 1996. It is said to be one of the most successful program of this type which was followed by a lot of other companies including eBay. I have joined their Affiliate program and placed their script on my blog. However, I am a bit confused that whether it will generate any income as people will seldom buy any stuffs from blogs.
