Hi christiancowboyholm , The maximum speed of cpu is depending on the maximum limit gigahertz it can take. Well actually with only 1.6gigahertz you may do many things already , you do not actually needs a very high end for your daily uses. May i know is there any reason why you want to upgrade it to the highest limit it can? Based on your needs we may advised what you can do.

this computer runs slow I am upgrading it to make it run faster. have room for 4G of memory upgrading it to. it just has 1G memory now.A bigger CPU will help just as well go as big as i can max it out.

yes indeed you could use p4 processor.. But certain main board does not support 3.6GHz processor..they require special main board with special chipset.

Hi, Your question is relly fade. I persume you are refering to the Processor Speed 1.6GHZ and 3.6GHZ. Please note though your mainboard is socket 478 (P4 processor).Whether or not it support 1.6ghz processor or 3.6 ghz processor depends on the chipset. Look carefully on the mainboad manual before purchasing your processor..
