Those darned ear-marks don't do a darned thing

I have been watching the news channels the last few days and I have seen a few different pieces on the ear-marks that we have coming our way. You know, the stupid little spending projects that politicians get for there districts that really don't have any effort on the economy. Today I was watching Fox News and a saw a Florida Rep. claiming that she needed to spend $20 million in her district for solar powered street lights in case a hurricane came through her district. This is just one example of wasteful spending. Why is it wasteful? I'm from Florida and if a really bad hurricane comes through, guess what, the street lights usually aren't there anymore. Wow it's a good thing we spent all that money that is now sitting on the ground where it will thrown out like the rest of the garbage. Aren't you glad that we paid for something that wont be worth the investment.
