Do you think that character matters among politicians?

Why or why not? I most certainly do. Character does matter. Not good looks, not capability, not smarts, not intelligence. Though all of the above are important--character carries the day. Have we NOT learned from the nightmares of Nixon, the more recently disgraced Kilpatrick of Detroit, Blagojevich of Illinois, and Burris of Illinois? If I can't trust you to be truthful about your extramarital affair, or whether or not you were involved in illegal conversations concerning a sale of a senate seat, how can I trust you in handling the affairs of my state? Agree or disagree?
