LION vs. TIGER...who would win?

My friend and I had a discussion today and I was wondering which one would be stronger, and we argued for a little bit because I think Lions are stronger than tigers! My friend disagrees and believes that tigers are stronger, just because lions travel in packs! If it is one vs. one... one lion vs. one tiger... who do you think would win?

tigers are physically larger than lions and i do agree the pack element would make them weaker in a one to one combat. so i am going for the tiger! who would win an unarmed fight between a cricket and a grasshopper?
