I am currently wearing eyeglasses but I don't like wearing it all the time. My eye doctor recommends me to use contact lens but I am afraid of using it. Any disadvantages that you can give me?

Hi it is said that the contact lens are harmful to the eyes, because they directly put into the eyes. And also you should wash them everyday. I also wear glasses because of short sight, but I don't want to try contact lens. Just suggestion

i prefer eyeglasses , for it is more comfortable. i have a multi coated eyeglasses which turns into sun glasses automatically while i am under the hot sun and turns back into normal when i am in indoors. It is kool. Haha i bet you can't do that with a contact lenses. I heard that contact lenses can't be closed to fire or hot heats.

i certainly dont mind contact lenses. sometimes when you first put them on it burns like crazy, but i try to immediately take it off, rinse it, and put it back on. also, after wearing it for long periods of time, your eyes becomes dry (at least mine do). about over 10 hours additionally, it annoys me to wear contacts while looking at the computer monitor, so i wear my eyeglasses for computer usage

near-sighted - you have to wear glasses since you are near-sighted
I don't wear glasses unless I am watching TV. I don't want to wear contact lens as I am afraid it will not be good for the eyes all the time. I think wearing the glasses is the safest way. For example, if you hands are not clean enough, I am afraid your eyes will be infected. And you have to change the contact lens after some time and in a long term, it is much more expensive than the glasses. I love China

I strongly disagree. I have been wearing contact lenses for over 30 years and have had NO problems at all. She should go to her eye doctor with these questions Good luck

Well, I am not using any eyeglass or contact lens. But my wife does. She once use eyeglasses and now is currently using a contact lens. There are advantages and disadvantages in using both. Since you are asking for the disadvantages, I think contact lenses are more prone to possible infection or irritation most especially if it is not properly cleaned. Other than that, its perfectly nice.

I have contacts and love them! You just have to find the right brand of contacts for your eyes and you might have to try several diffrent brands until you find some you like! Some people just cant do contacts because they are sticking something in there eye and it burns but i love them!

I used to wear contact lenses but not anymore now. The contact lenses, or was it the cleanser, almost made me completely blind. Since then, I stopped wearing contact lenses and have just been contended with eyeglasses. I would rather look old than be completely blind. Have a good day.

Hi, sophie_dfuss. The only disadvantages to wearing contact lenses that I can think of is the fact that it makes your eyes very dry. And, sleeping in them is not healthy either. And you will have to make sure that you choose the right brand that suits your eyes. And when you clean them, you have to make sure that it is cleaned properly. And you have to make sure that you are using the correct Lens Cleaning Solution.

You can easily lose one of them when you cry really hard :D Then you'd have another pair. Also, some people tend to have protein bits form in their eyes and the contact lenses then become spotted and dirty... I prefer glasses over contact lenses just because I can take it off whenever I want to without worrying about poking my eyes. I'm actually thinking about buying myself new glasses :D Something more stylish! Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I have been wearing contact lenses for over 30 years now and would never stop unless I had to. When I wore glasses they would slide down my nose and I was always pushing them back up. Not to mention my EGO. I feel so much better about myself, and the way that I look. I now wear multi focus contact lens, and they are just great. I started to have to get a pair of glasses so I could read and really didn't like that. So the optometrist suggested weraing the multi focu lenses, and I took to them right away. I can see for distance and can read close up now. So, give contact lenses a try. I believe with a quality fit you will be really happy with them. Oh yeah, you will get used to touching you eyes. When pacing them on your eye... just do it! Good Luck

I wear both. I prefer contact lens 'coz I can do more activities with contacts. I can swim, I can travel conveniently, I can even sleep with contacts on. I wear eyeglasses whenever I feel that my eyes are getting dry and lacking Oxygen. I also wear glasses to change my look sometimes.
