Virtual memory is what windows uses aside from RAM. It uses a small amount of un-used hard disk space to assist in its processes... I think its usualy about 5gigs but it increases and decreases as windows sees fit. Installing more ram is one war to help with this, also like posted earlier uninstall any useless applications you dont use or want in your add remove program (control panel) or programs if you use vista. I believe all factory built pc's such as hp, acer, gateway, and so on, come with alot of useless software that you will most likely never use, try removing some of these or substituting them with lighter applications. for example. replace norten/mcafee with avg free.

Oh, and open 'system configuration', under the startup tab. limit the programs which start when windows boots up, that will help you out alot.

Remove programs you don't use and upgrade the amount of memory your computer has. I used to get that message all the time, then I purchased more memory and never got it again.

Hi maygodblessyou44. In my opinion, you should add another RAM to enhance your PC capability. If no is you answer, you can uninstall the big program on your PC such as games and etc., disable windows autoupdate and disable unwanted services. Go to your run box and type in msconfig and search for the unwanted services that you want to disable(be careful if you know nothing about it). Why Msconfig? Because you can check hidden program loads in the background. Turning off some of the hidden programs can significantly increase your computer performance.

i am not a computer expert in the least, but i did work with computers for 8 years. when it says your virtual memory is low, it usually means there are too many programs on your computer. for example, if you like to download alot of stuff on your computer such as games and applications, that effects your computer's "memory space". to start, what you want to do is go in to your control panel and look at all the programs you have. if there is anything, you can uninstall, i suggest you start there. i have done this and it has freed up alot of virtual memory on my computer. hope that helps a little...
