Did God divide us?

I am a doctor and last year I was asked by a couple to accompany them to an orphanage to examine a child they were to adopt. When I reached there, there was another couple waiting to adopt a child. Both the couples were asked to contact their advocate and name the child before taking it with them. Next day one child became a 'Chopra' and another a 'Gupta'(both are casts in India). So the question is, "Did God divide us or we did it ourselves?". Be honest and reply please!
