The Barbie Doll is 50 today

Today March, 09 is the anniversary of the Barbie Doll to hit the toy stores in 1959. I was only 2 then so I did not get one. However, my oldest sister was 9 and she got one for her birthday which is a few days from now(the 20th). When I was older, I used to get them too. I still have my sister's original Barbie and mine as well. I even have her boyfriend Ken and her younger sister Skipper and Barbies friend Midge.
Did you have Barbie or any of the others? If you did, do you still have any of them?

I still remembered when l was still a young little girl, my mother ever bought me a barbie doll, too. That was my first barbie doll that l have and still had until now, only l didn't play with it. Now, lm too old for it. I just kept it in my toy cupboard together with my other toys, as well.

Hi Myfb. It is good that you still have your Barbie doll in a good place. She may be worth money later in your life. I have my sister's 1st and that is worth much right now. She is in original clothes in very good condition. I will not sell it yet but maybe when I retire if I need the money. If not I will give it to a family member younger than I. Thanks for your response.

I didn't get barbies until the 80's. I wasn't born when barbie started. I have a whole rubbermade tub of them at my parents house. I had many many barbies, skippers and kens. I had cars and horses. And lots and lots of clothes. My sister and I spent many an hour in our youth playing with the dolls.

Hi Aurone, When I was younger Barbie did not have horses or cars. She got the toys and luxuries as we got older. My sisters and I used to play with them for hours too. I used to love to get new clothes for her on the next holiday or birthday. The outfit always came with matching shoes and maybe a purse too. There are a lot of good memories that come when I think of playing Barbies.
