can you watch Television and learn Spanish from it?

I am currently studying Spanish. There were many Spanish channels available on the Direct TV program. I watch some of the programs, and I try to apply what I learn from the dictionary and books in attempt to understand what they said. It just a listening practice. I found it really difficult for me, because majority of time, I got confused, and I really have no idea of what they said. But sometimes, I learn it a lot. Does any of you taking a foreign language?

No, I am not taking a course in foreign language as of now. I can't watch television and learn Spanish at the same time either.. That is something that I can't do. I did take a french course in high school, but that was the last time that I ever studied for a foreign language.
