If our system is infected by virus, we are scanning with anti virus software and if we are not able to find any virus then some of us trying to restore our system to earlier time with the help of the Windows system restore option or with the help of some anti virus software bundled with this option. This will work most of the time and our system will start functioning as usual. My doubt is, without identifying the virus, how the software remove the virus? Or what will happen to the virus program after we restore our system?

Spy bot search and destroy, and AVG are both free and excellent spy ware programs,I've been doing this many years and one program won't get all the current viruses out there. But only run one at a time.Download them and run AVG all the time and once a week or two shut off the avg and scan the system with search and destroy. These two have kept me virius free for the past 3 yrs. another good program is on obit.com it's a free maint. program for your puter! try it it's very good! tdemex!

I'll second this. AVG is a wonderfull program, and is free. I cant say anything good about other programs though. Try to keep your installed / running applications to a minimum. Your computer will love you for it.

When you choose to restore your system, your present data including virus files are covered by previous data. That's how the virus is removed from your computer. But this method don't work all the time bacause most times we only restore partition disc C, while the virus may still exist in other partitions.

Yes..I have met such situation many times. We are not able to get back our system entirely as it was, even after the system restoration and this might be the reason. You mean that system restoring operation is only with the C drive and not with any other drives. Is it so? Thanks for your response and sorry for my delayed reply to your discussion.

I use kaspersky anti-virus and it updates its database everyday so you can be sure that viruses from the net will be scanned by your software. Try this AV before restoring it to previous time. For your question, I also don't know what happened to the virus but to be sure, scan your computer.

I have installed Kaspersky in one of the systems. But while it is getting updated, it is taking long time and also we are not able to know the approximate time it is going to take for updating the software or scanning the files.Sometime, the data base is getting corrupted itself and then it is updating itself for a long time. Is there system restoring option available with this software.I am not able to find such option and mine is licensed one. Thanks for your response.
