Parental Intuition?

I just started a post about a concert my daughter was involved in today. Anyhow the point of this discussion is that although it was a music concert the children all had to illustrate the front of their songsheets on the theme of one of the songs. There were to be 2 runner ups and a winner. You know that feeling you get when your child has done something that makes you really proud, the tingling , lump in the throat and quivering lips along with eyes that are ready to spill over with tears at any second? WEll I had that the whole concert but it felt like more than just cos she was having such a great time singing as though there was more to come. Then came the news of the competition, I turned and whispered to my partner that Niamh had won. He looked at me as if I had 2 heads and asked how I knew - the reply of course was that I just did...and of course I was right! The provost presented her with a certificate and a gift bag and she had her phoo taken, my other half tried to get a pic of that but photographer was in the way I phoned my sis in law when we got home - she is the press officer with our council, it was not one of her photographers but she said she would see what she could do. A couple of hours later we dropped Gran home after going shopping and there were 2 copies of the photograph -my sis in law had dropped them off on her way home from work! Wasn't that nice! lol Niamh does love art and was in an exhibition last year but the only way I can explain that I knew she had won the competition was a psychic connection when it comes to my kids! What do you guys think - connection or just coincidence? By the way Niamhs class were the youngest of the 3 and that made her even more pleased....and her prize was a cd of traditional scottish music that she loves! Hugs xxx

Congratulations to the proud Mum and of course to Niamh. You have every right to be proud of her and I do believe parents have a psychic connection with their children. I also knew when my daighter had done something wrong... she thought I was spooky. xxOOxx

Thank you whiteheather! LOL That is the flip side of that connection isn't it - knowing when they have done something you definitely aren't proud of! lol My eldest used to think I was a witch as I always knew when he had done wrong too! lol Now he just thinks I am a witch cos he is 15 and full of attitude, though luckily he confines that attitude to home! lol xxx

LOL Thanks Tickle sweety! She loves art of any kind - she even hates us throwing anything out or recycling it as she can 'do art' with it! lol AS for my psychic ability, I do think it is real but only works with the kids! lol xxx

Please tell your daughter I said "Congratulations!!". I am sure you are very proud of her. It is uncanny how we know things before they happen. A mother just knows sometimes. Was your daughter surprised that you knew ahead of time??

Connection, parental intuition absolutely!!! I can just imagine you there all teary-eyed, quivery-lipped and tingling. How exciting for Niamh. That is awesome. I remember her exhibition from last year, you shared pictures with us from it. My neice must really be great at art. I'm so proud. How great that must have been to end the day by finding those two photos waiting for you at home. for the SIL.

We know. We know when they are hurting behind their smile, grinning behind their tears, and in danger though there is miles between us. It's love, being their parent, and simple intuition. And if it works on all that, why not when she's done something way too cool? Give her our congrats! Well done!

That is true - Niall (my eldest) used to think I could tell from his face he was lying so he tried talking to me from a different room, on the phone everything and I still knew - he didn't like it! lol Thanks Honey I will let hjer read this in the morning or when she comes home from school! xxx

Oh how wonderful. And yes, we mother's just have a sixth sense when it comes to these sorts of things. I wish your daughter more enjoyable concerts, and you as well. All of my children are involved heavily in the music arena and truly enjoy it. The two oldest played in the Inaugural parade here in the US, and they were the only high school to be chosen from Mississippi. Many blessings to you. Namaste-Anora

Wow ANORA YOU MUST HAVE BEEN SO PROUD OF THEM! Neither my other partner or I have any musical talent whatsoever and are not artistic - neither is my eldest son but Niamh just seems to thrive on creativity! lol I think that 6th sense we have is an amazing thing - my other half cannot understand how I know these things! LOL xxx
