I think there are many causes of bad eyesight. Some may be attributed to heredity if I am not mistaken. Some of which are also caused by lack of vitamins and nutrients. But I think the most common of all is our abuse. As you can see there are a lot of things that we do that may damage our eyesight. These may include reading in the dark, staring at very bright objects, using the computer all the time and reading to much. Perhaps there are many more causes but I think those are the most common.

Bad eyesight may be caused by various reasons, the most important of which is refractive error. Besides it, there may be causes related to cornea, uveal tissue especially iris, lens, vitreous, retina and all the other structures the eyeball consists of. Among all these, refractive error and lental opacity that is cataract have good prognosis.

There are many causes of bad eyesight at any age. My step children both have bad eyesight because of genetics. It seems to run in their mothers family. I am an adult, and my eyesight is fine, but I know it will probably not be that way for long. I am diabetic, which causes a condition called diabetic retinopathy. Not sure what that is exactly, but I do know that I am likely to get it. I also recently found out that I am likely to inherit a condition called fulks distrophy from my father. I don't know exactly what that is either, except that he has had to have both corneas transplanted within the last few years because of it, or he would have been completely blind by now. True adult bad eyesight CAN be caused by aging, but there are also alot of genetic causes and diseases that can cause it later in life as well.

Yes I agree from what I experienced my mother had a poor eye sight and it runs in her family. I inherited it my sights deteriorate when I was 17. I starting to experience the headache and I can no longer see in far. It is difficult for me that time when I'm still studying I can no longer see what's written on the white board. Technologies are also the reason why eyes begin to deteriorate. Many teenagers, kids and young adult now have bad eyesight.
