with a moneymaking scheme with a startup fee that didn't turn out to be a scam, a ponzi scheme, or a Madoff scheme? How do you spot those, and steer clear of them? Also--tell me some of your horror stories about those experiences that did become scam nightmares--you know, when you were asked for a $39.00 startup fee, and you were promised a kit--and then months later you read on the news that the company moved to Brazil and were enjoying the highlife there.

Fortunately, I have never become involved with one of the sites that has a startup fee and gotten scammed. The only way I have really avoided those scams is that I just always avoid any sites that ask for money. I only join sites if they are free, so that way if it doesn't turn out to be legitimate, then at least I didn't give them any money, even if it does turn out to be kind of a waste of time. Another way that I avoid scam sites is that whenever I hear of a new site that I'm interested in joining, I try to do a search for the site on mylot to see if there are any people here that are involved with the site. That way, I can see what those people have to say about it, and I can also find out if they have actually been paid by the site before. It has really helped me to keep from getting scammed!
