Last night my two year old son got hurt. Right after I had cooked an oven pizza, he deceided to climb up on the table and try to reject the pizza by throwing it onto the floor. As I saw he was climbing, I went to grab the plate from crashing to the ground. Then, I started to pick up the dropped food. The next thing I see, is my son tumbling from standing to laying flat on his back. On the way down he hit his chin on the table near by. I reached to pick him up. I noticed he had a large gash on the bottom of his face. I ran with him into the bathroom, to wash off the blood. While I thought it was a heavily bleeding, deep cut.. it had stopped bleeding in about ten minuets of me holding a towel on it. I immeaditaley wanted to rush him to the ER. But, the car I drive now was out, as it belongs to my roommate and the person was out... So, I kept him calm from all the crying.. Eventually, he went to sleep. When the roommate came back, she looked at it. She thought it was not that bad to go the hospital. So I got up this morning to get him first aid supplus from the store( I do not normally need it, so I did not have any bandages or etc..) This was a scary thing for me. In the past my son has hurt himself by bumbing his head or something, but nothing like this... Are there other MyLot parents here who know about these experiences? Has your kid or someone you know had a kid that has been hurt, or injured? What happened? Any advice?...........................

My son is also 2 years old (the terrible 2 as they say) and he's had some accidents that I thought would drain my blood out. The first and most scary (since I saw blood running down from his chin) is when he was biking and trying to run over all the slippers on the floor. One of the slippers is 2 inch thick so naturally he got out of balance. It was like watching a movie, all was happening in slow motion but the problem is I was also in slowmo so I couldn't get there before he hit the ground lol. Advice? Uhmmm I have none, accidents are accidents. You did the right thing by calming him down. My kid was crying when he saw the blood and when he heard us screaming, but then when I calmed down and reached out for him and hugged him his crying subsided.

Been to the ER more times than I can count. I have two boys they are now 7 & 9. Both have had stitches, staples and even super glued. My youngest one until he was about 4, when he got hurt he would stop breathing. First time it happened we rushed him to the ER, of course by time we got there he was fine. They said this does happen in some children, so when it happened again, we would get a cold clothe and blow air into his face. Thank goodness he outgrew that. When he was 1 1/2 years old a cargo trailer tailgate feel on him hitting him in his head. He was not responsive so we had to rush him to the ER, when we got there they took him straight back and put him on oxygen. I was so scared that we had lost him. But he was ok, just needed stitches. A couple a years ago at the babysitters, my little one hit the older one with a golf club, had to go to the hospital for stitches. When the oldest was in kindergarten, he feel on the basketball court and busted his head open. The school called EMS, to take him to the hospital, stitches again. I have many more stories I could tell you. Things happen so fast, no matter how much you are trying to watch them. They will get hurt and get better.
