Who creats Virus? A naughty IT expert or an antivirus software company?

We all know about the computer viruses and also use anti-virus softwares for the health of our computer and our files. But have u ever thought who created virus? and why?
One of my IT expert friend, once told me that there are some companies who creat virusses and then next day launch anti-virus software for that perticular virus.
What Do you guys think about that? Is that just a naughty boy or a healthy and well established company behind your currupt file?

I am very afraid to hear the word "virus".
I did not find the powerful anti-virus to protect my computer. I don't think anti-virus companies are creating new virus for their business because i found that most of virus is created only for windows operating system, while using linux i did not face any virus problem.
If anti-virus companies are creating virus why did they ignore the linux. So i feel that virus was created by experts who want to become popular or who want to earn money by other means.

I still tend to think that most virus are created by antivirus software companies. As an IT expert may not have so long time to make the virus. He will be busy with many things. Whereas the antivirus software companies are different. They need to survive and therefore they need the virus. They sell their antivirus software to make the profit. This is why they can kill the virus so soon when the virus is released.

Creating a virus does not take long time for an IT expert, they can create a virus in a minute. Even I have created a harmless virus just to play pranks with friends. I have not published or spread any virus. And I am not an IT expert, so it is a matter of minute for an IT expert to create some sophisticated virus.
