Why are soap dishes so low?

I don't know about your shower but in mine my soap dish is really low. All the water hits the soap dish and my soap always gets all soggy and mushy. Plus I have to bend down to even reach the soap You probably gonna say that's for people who take bath but there is more people showering then bathing I think anyway. Do you have this problem ?

Hey missy! Another cute avatar! Is it your birthday? You look so cute holding the birthday cake? Are you wearing your birthday suit? You are so right about the soap dish thing! I think you must be right about why they put the soap dish so damn low! They must think that everybody takes baths! And I think that if they really did a survey they would find that is not true and most people take showers and hate having their soap getting mushy and disappearing in just a few days! I also hate to have to bend for the soap so I have done something to save my soap! I put it into one of those travel dishes and take it in and out of the shower and when I am showering put it on the edge of the tub! That way it doesn't get as mushy and used up! The bending thing is about the same though! I haven't exactly figured out a way to fix that yet, but I'm working on it!

Good Idea, I've been putting mine on top of the shower door. Yes it was my birthday and Sconibear found the perfect avatar. To bad I have to change it today.

I am glad I don;t have that kind of problem. My soap dish is just right.. it is away from splashing water unless I will take down the shower hose. Our shower is not built in. We have a long hose that we can take it down when we want to. You can transfer your soap dish if you want, to avoid that problem.. Good luck.

I like the shower with the hose better, mine is build in and it's kinda low and I'm kinda tall too.

maybe its time you changed the positioning of your soap dish,as that is very uncomfortable.mine is kept at my height level(5"5)it was not done taking my height into account but average height of indian women is around that number.(you have to bend ,if you wish to procure something good.)

It's a ceramic\tile soap dish and it's build right into the shower wall. I guess I could buy 1 and put it on the wall with some kind of suction cups.

Mostly people design the bathrooms with soap dishes at a place where we have to stretch up your hands a little bit.In your case, may be they would have installed shower after a late time.before that, they would have not used showers and probably had sit and bath.Cheers!

You got a good point there, that makes a little more sense,

If you have to bend down just to reach the soap, i can say that the mounting of your soap dish was not considered before it was installed. I believe there should be a standard mounting height for those things. Just like electrical outlets, light switches, and door knobs to mention a few.

My soap dish is almost on a level above the shower handle. It's actually the first time that I've heard of a soap dish that low. Could it be that the one who made the bathroom did not know the normal soap dish level on bathrooms? I think your soap will be wasted because of that. It would be much better if you will just install a new soap dish. They sell at DIY stores soap dish that can be installed with a suction cup.

That's why I started putting my soap on top of the shower door, it's wide enough to lay the soap on.
