I've been keeping a journal on and off now for a number of years but rather recently got back in the swing of things after nabbing myself a Moleskine notebook to use. It's pocket sized and perfect for jotting down sudden ideas, thoughts, and observations. So, what do you keep in your journal? Is there a specific sort of journal that you like to use?

I love journaling. I've used Moleskine in the past, but currently I use a Circa notebook from Levenger because I can move around the pages easily. There's several things I do with my journal. I keep a diary sort of thing with just a run down of my day. I also use it to work through feelings or situations I'm having to come up with solutions. When I come up with story snippets or ideas I have a place for that as well. I've been known to clip pictures or comics and tape them in my journal and comment on those, too. I've written prayers in there. Made lists or things to do or planning for goals. I keep a list of goals and work on them. My journal varies depending on what kind of a stage I'm in. I just go with the flow. One thing I do have to have though, is I need to write in my journal with a fountain pen. I have several fountain pens and jars of ink which I have just for writing in my journal. It's all part of honoring the process for me. Nothing says "deep writing" more than using a fountain pen, to me.

I always write mine at the end of the day, so it is more of a reflection on what I've done, and a few thoughts about what I need to do. I like to write about the good things that happen and nice things I notice and see. Of course I should not leave out anything bad that happens, but I will only refer to it briefly and then let it go.

My English teacher of two years now encourages the use of journals every start of the week. I enjoy spending 15 minutes writing and knowing that I'm gonna read it years from now, but I only keep a journal for school. In my own time, I blog about life, days, etc. and that's it. I find it easier to type things out than to write it on paper... besides, with the amount of my writing, I don't think I could afford hundreds of notebooks!
