A certain creditor sets up a payment arrangement with you for, say, the 26th of every month. That is the agreement. Your wife decides to pay about 13 days earlier in a given month. Now keep in mind that the agreement is for payment on the 26th of that month. Fast forward to next month. Come the 13th of the next month, they ask you, "It looks like we'll need your next payment today." The problem is that bill wasn't in your budget for that week, because again the agreement was for the 26th of each month. You tell them so. They say, "The computer says it's due right now." Would you just suck it up and pay the bill, or do you argue the point with them. Mind you, this is the third time this same creditor has tried to get its money early on the sly. It seems like someone there is altering the due dates so they can cash in on you early. Am I just being paranoid, or is someone actually trying to do me?

Hi, angustthethird! It sounds like the creditor is trying to get off on you all. The date was set for the 26th and payment was made 13 days earlier.. It also sounds like once you all decided to pay then that is what they are basing your payment due date on. They have changed it, and they should have told you that they had to. If it says in their computer that it is time to pay again, then the creditor should tell you then, whenever, you do decide to pay, even if it is before the 26th, that you will have to pay the bill even if it is 13 days earlier. I would ask them why did they change it up like that. Once they get your money even if it was earlier than the due date, then they feel that they have the right to start accepting the money 13 days earlier... They should inform you that they will be doing this from now on..
