Poor dog! No squeakies!

The poor little dog is being disciplined. He has 3 squeak toy "puppies", but only one of them is his favorite. He keeps hiding his favorite under the bed. Not just near the end, no, he has to swat it. After digging out the "puppy" for the second time, hubs has decreed he cannot have it back. Poor Cuddles is devastated!! There are 2 other "puppies" but he won't touch them. It has to be this one, or nothing. Well, hubs says nothing is what it is! Such cruelty! All 3 of these things are exactly alike, but not according to the dog. Have you had to discipline your poor dog today? Or lately?

Don't forget your dog is a dog not a child, you cannot treat him like a child and be successful. Your Dog knows which is his favorite, they are no alike to his senses. The best thing would be to allow the toy only in an area that is easy on all of you. eliminate the under the bed availability. Blessings

There isn't any place in the house unavailable to him. Even closed doors don't stop this little smarty! He can open them. I've tried to keep him out of the bedroom, especially at night. Every morning, he's back in there and the door is wide open. And it ain't us! This one is a smart little bugger. He knows what we're talking about most of the time! He knows what each room is, toy names, and other things. Each room has a spot where that toy goes. Even if I block it off, he'll work that little sucker in there. I don't know how many times I've gotten it out from under the entertainment center. It really shouldn't be able to fit under there, but he manages. Sigh. When he loses a toy for a couple days, he remembers! That's how we trained him not to put his bones in our bed. (I thought it was hilarious, but hubs didn't. It was always on his side though. lol) My dog can't be trained that way, he doesn't remember like that, but this one does. He's getting it back tonight. It's been a couple days. I will bet you it never goes under our bed again. It might get shoved under my bras or some other place it ain't supposed to be, but he won't make the mistake of losing his toy again. He always remembers things like that. He may not be a child, but in a lot of ways he's smarter than a child. He understands a lot more than a dog is supposed to. We try very hard not to underestimate him. It usually backfires!

A very smart dog you have there, sure it's not a 2 yr. old kid in a dog suit?

Yeah, he's way smarter than a 2 year old. Or even a 5 year old. I can understand them learning words that one uses every day, but he seems to understand our meanings on things we don't repeat a lot. Or I KNOW I've never said. (It's a bit creepy, having to watch my words around him.) I was carrying a huge blanket from the living room to the utility room (across the house) today. I made a snarky comment to him, "If you were a good dog, you'd help me carry this heavy thing." He grabbed part of the blanket dragging on the ground and started walking beside me!! I was so creeped out!! I wish my dog was that smart... Sigh.

u tell hubs to give the baby back his toy. he wouldn't want his toys taken away. lol. mine did get displined today but that's nothing unusual. she has a bad habit of running out the door every time it's opened so i have been trying to break her for that.

He'll be getting it back tonight. it's been 2 days. That's all it takes for him to not do something again. He's a really smart little cookie. That's why I'm so careful about teaching him tricks now. He takes the trick and adds to it. I taught him to climb some steps. Now he has to be tied up if hubs is on a ladder, or he'll have a dog right behind him!

My poor dog is in love with my hiking boots. I keep them stored in the laundry room but every time I go to get them I find they have gone. They grew their own feet which were attached to legs on someone elses butt and off they walked. And where do I find my boots? UNDER the dog. He literally sleeps on top of them. He got his butt booted outside Sunday morning for stealing my boots Saturday night. Now I have to keep my boots up on a shelf. This morning I caught him sitting in the laundry room POUTING up at the shelf. He really looked heart broken. I have no sympathy for him. Shoes are not to be slept on!

They're not supposed to have wet, sloppy toys stuck in either! My booties always tend to be...wet. The dogs play with a toy, then it has to be stuffed into my bootie. Urgh! That is a very funny way of telling the story! Most excellent!

They might be the same to you, but I assure you they are very different. They have different smells and different bite marks. Now that you took the toy away it's time to give it back. I have an assortment of toys under the bed and sofa and refrigerator. They get them back when I do a deep cleaning. Until that time they stay hidden.

I always give him 2 days. He'll remember now. But we have arthritis. It's kinda hard kneeling to dig that darn toy out every night! And it's not near the edge. It's been swatted back against a wall, so it takes a bit of work to get to it! And if we were to just leave it there, he tries to do it himself. Then gets stuck halfway under the bed and screaming from the pain of it pressing into his back. But you lift the bed up and get him out, he does it over again! Stubborn even if he is smart. Sigh.
