Still anybody using pager?

thenological improvement and pager - These are the technological instruments used for one way test messaging ,released in the earlies of 1990 or later. But very soon they faded away from being used, due the invasion of mobile cellular phones.

Some of us were familiar with Pager. It's disappearance is the best example the development of technology..They were released with lot of expectations and all admired its usage. But now, most of the younger generations are not aware of the word "pager". Is there any country still providing the pager service?

Oh, yeah!!! I used to own one along with my first cell phone... I've seen few of them still in use by doctors & fire fighters... Some of the "corporate trainers" in my company have 2way pagers, although some of them are moving on to blackberries... I actually wouldn't mind having one again myself...

I'm not sure about fire fighters & others but from what I understand, doctors use pagers within the hospital because cell phone signals can disturb some hospital equipments... One of my cousin is a doctor (surgion) & that's what she said, at least in her hospital staff meeting, that has been discussed many times... Emergency rooms & nurse's stations usually have certain doctor's pager number on speed dial & they'll use special code to get the message across like, floor number followed by extentions... Different specialty dipartments are usually located in different floors so doctor has a general idea what it has to do with... My cousin got a page once that said, "05-236-911"... Neuro-surgery, patient in room 236, having an episode of some kind...

I really feel shocked on hearing this, even if we are ready to have this, how the concerned service providers are managing the less volume of customers? It is very difficult. Thanks for you to let of us that the pager is still in use. Thanks again.

I read in a thread on another site that they are still in common use in the Philippines. I don't know if this is true or not

Hey, I don't really use pager anymore. I have no idea if their are still countries that still provide the service. Technology has evolved rapidly over the past years, it is almost getting too hard to actually keep up with everything. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

Still I can not believe as some of the countries are having such service. From the previous response we are able to understand that the mobile signals are interfering the hospital equipments. For this cause they may use. But most of the countries are not allowing the doctors while they are doing the operations at all. Thanks for your response.

This is a very interesting topic. I almost forget pager. I think nobody uses it here any more. Especially there is no pager company available now:) Today the cellphone is quite common and it seems most people have one. I love China

The invasion of mobile phones made the pager to run out of the technology I think. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Hi there Kumarpslv. I have seen one in reality and also many in the movies, but i can't say that i know anyone to use them anymore. The only way i could think of them really being used, are like i have seen in the recent movie "Seven Deeds" with Will Smith, were heart ill patients that needed a donation, were given a pager in order to be announced fast about the arrival of a donator for them.

I have heard about this and I have not even seen that one directly. Also I don't know what are all the facilities available with it. I don't think this will be in use anywhere. If you explain about it ,I will be very happy to know.Thanks.

It is like mobile only but without voice call facility and additional features. Also you can only receive the message and also to send a message to some body we have to go the pager service provider and we have to tell as what is the text message to be sent to the particular pager number.then they will be sending the message to the concerned customer. If the customer receives the message, then he can contact us for further detail over phone of by some other means. It is time consuming process and similar to phonograph. Thanks for participating in this discussion.
