Does it surprise me that she has fired the free 24/7 nurses that were given to her on a silver platter? She does this after Dr. Phil negotiates between Ms. Alred and DSS. She does this after she's settled in her new home and after she gets all the babies home. She fired them because she accused them of spying on her and reporting to DSS. Well, guess what mommie? Anyone that was stupid enough to have had 8 more children, when you already a 6, will be under the microscope. You proved that you are not a stable or rational person when you insisted on having more children. If the world thought, at one time, that you could never have too many children, you have just proven that theory so wrong. You have just set the precedent. You set the new standards for DSS, the medical profession and motherhood. What you continue to do though, is prove just how irrational you are, how self-centered you are, and how paranoid you are. If you don't think that the world will be watching you and how those children are being raised, you need to think again. Those nurses that you fired was your last chance in keeping custody of your children. If you can be that paranoid with adults, how paranoid will you be with you children? You lady, are just a piece of work! DCMerkle

I must have missed this when did she get a new house? Yes she's paranoid, and yes she's wrong to turn down ANY help. It's also true that she has given a new perspective to fertility treatments, and could in the long run make it much harder for women who just want 1 baby and can't do that on their own. But does that mean that she doesn't deserve an ounce of privacy, or that she is unstable because she has a lot of kids? I don't condone how she went about this, but really there are some families out there with 12 or more kids that do just fine and are good parents and don't go begging for help because they did a dumb thing.

pentaluda0878 Octomom gave up her right to privacy the minute she had children. Whatever privacy she may have had between her first 6 and herself, was blown right out of the water with the 8. She has jeopardized the custody of all those children by firing the help. Alred had already filed a complaint against Octomom awhile back, but had offered her the help of the nursing group if Octomom had answered the complaint by a certain deadline. She didn't and that's when Dr. Phil had gotten involved and renegotiated the deal. Firing the nurses is tanamount to she might as well pack the kids of and send them off to DSS. Her paranoia has gotten the best of her. How did she know if any of the supoosed reports going to DSS weren't positive, in her favor? I do agree that are families with 8 or more children. My father was a police officer and his partner had 8 children ranging in differnt ages, but he also had a wife, a mother for his family. It was a two parent household. The difference between my father's partner's family and Octomom is that she is a single parent with a documented history of mental illness. Please people, before you go there, I do know that having a mental illness and demonstrating the ability of raising a family does not preclude one's abilty to be able to raise children. Now consider this. Octomom has just thrown the light on that factor as well. She has unconsciously made the question of whether or not a person with a mental illness can raise a family something that will be reconsidered just because of Octomom's own actions. It will be somethng that will be considered in every new case filed against a mother across this Nation, in the family courts, with even the tiniest history of mental illness, by every hot shot lawyer that thinks that they can make it stick. Her case will be what will be cited in those court hearings. Whether it does stick is up to the judge, but every case where Octomom's case is cited will cause undo stress and strain on the mother that has the complaint filed against her. With all the money that was being donated, it was decided that there was enough to set up a trust fund for the children and there was enough money to also buy the house she has now. A seperate household account was set up that included the morgage payments as well. She is not the one in charge of any of it. I think it's either her father or an outside group that is handling that. DCMerkle

You are very right about the mental health issues that this will raise. She has caused a lot of possible changes to come about due to her poor actions, and she has chosen to be in the spotlight, but I still don't agree with it being ok for other people to know every last detail of her existence. EVERYONE deserves some privacy.
