I am a very big fan of the Doors, and recently I watched the Doors movie directed by Oliver Stone. At first I was very excited to see this movie, but as I started watching the movie I became extremely dissapointed.
The movie should have been renamed "Crazy Drug Addict Psychopath Jim Morrison", and that really pissed me off. The movie exaggerated and just plain made up many things about Jim Morrison. For example when Jim Morrison sang Light My Fire on the Ed Sullivan show he sang it without any emphasis on higher as the movie had shown. Jim Morrison had told Mr. Sullivan that he would not say higher, but he just sang the song like normal, thats it. The movie tried to make him look like some crazy drug crazed shell of a person. The movie included little about the band as a whole.
Jim Morrison bandmates Ray Manzerek, John Densmore, and Robby Kreiger all agreeded that the actor did a great job of potraying Jim Morrison, but the script did not match with the facts.
Do you feel the movie was accurate, and did alter your views on them in anyway.

I am so crazy about the doors. The led singer was the bomb. I have been getting into the older music here recently. Music is just not like it use to be. there are a few songs that have came out recently that I liked but there have not been that many of them

Hi phoenix79! I was a big fan of the doors, myself, when they were popular in the '60s and I still am pretty much. I had a huge crush on Jim Morrison! Not only did I think he was good looking, but I enjoyed his singing, too! I majored in music when I was in college (voice) and I feel like I ought to know good singing when I hear it. I grew up on all those old songs and I agree with you. Music is not what it used to be.
I listen to a lot of country music these days. However, I like to listen to the old rock 'n' roll occasionally, too. Kathy.
