Being The Youngest Child

I come from a family of five children and I am the baby and my siblings still treat me like the baby and I am going to be 50 years old in two weeks. It drives me insane. I get phone calls when the weather is bad and told I shouldn't drive even though they are. Or told how to manage my finances, what to wear to certain events, when I was raising my son I was told how to parent. I wanted to scream and still do. Why don't siblings realize that you are not a baby anymore and to get over it

I thought it was just me and my family!! I'm 26 and I'm still treated like the baby. I feel like I'm still in high school. I can't make a decision without a bunch of advice thrown at me. Oy! I'm an adult now! Gotta love the older siblings though right? They really are just looking out. :)

I was going shopping with my older sister about a month ago....as we go out the door to get in the car she said...do you have to go to the bathroom before we go lol....I shook my head and looked at her and said I think I am old enough now to realize if I have to go to the bathroom without you asking

Hi summerfire,I am 53 and even though I am the eldest of my siblings it annoys me when my father talks to me as a child, he will argue with me and make me feel so small, it drives me nuts, but my parents are divorced so I can pick the times I want to phone him...bb littleowl

Hi Summerfire, I am the 3rd of 5 children. I felt like I should respond in defense of us older siblings. I still tell my younger siblings things that sound childish sometimes, but it is because I care.I also tell my older brothers things I think they should know. I think part of it is because I am a parent. I give advice to everyone. I don't however try to treat them like small children, but it may sound that way sometimes. Don't feel belittled or brainless, just feel loved and cared about!

Sounds familiar, I am 45 and also the youngest of five and I still get that from my sisters and brother. I have just learned to ignore them and do what I want. If they were willing to pay my bills for me it would be a different story but so far not one of them has offered! JUst be glad that they care enough to be concerned.
