I'M NOT INTO MAKING CHANGES MUCH. THAT'S THE WAY OLD FOLKS ARE. LOL. I AM SO SICK OF OUR CABLE CO. THEY TAKE CHANNELS AWAY ALL THE TIME & never replace them. they are a bunch of smart a$$es when u have to call them, they constantly go up on your bill so i'm changing to dish next thursday. i may not have enough sense to find the channels but I'M going to give it a whirl. another down is the cable co. is taking BANKRUPTSY so we don't know what that will bring on. they have no competition here so they just charge u what they want. DO ANY OF YOU HAVE THE DISH NETWORK & DO YOU LIKE IT? THANKS.

We used to have Dish many years ago. We cut back on paying for any monthly channels, so it left. But it was a good deal when we had it. Cable sucked because of the service and rotten channels. Dish has fantastic service, at least where we are. The regular channels on it have lots of stuff to watch. We gave up on the movie type channels, like HBO and such. they just kept repeating the same old movies all month long. It got disgusting. You got like 3 movies on them, and you were stuck with that all month long. Next month it was a different 3, but it just got old. We stuck with just the main programming, no extra channels.

I used to have dish network I liked it you get alot of good channels and they have these unlimitted games you can play for 5 dollars a month its really nice. I know a lot of people that have Dish Network and they say in is so better then regular cable and better that Direct TV. I heard Direct Tv messes up alot. Dish has a good clear picture. Customer service is really nice the bill is alot lower then the cable bill. Price and plans are really reasonable. If I was able to I most likely would still be using Dish Network.

Oh we don't have dish network here in our place. Actually my friend I don't even have an idea of what it is not till you posted this discussion. Well, with regard to old folks not into making much changes, well that is true but there are also old folks who change and change and change and those are quite difficult to deal with. I'd rather like those who are not too demanding and always feel contented.

please don't ever feel embarassed to ask me anything. o.k.? that's the waay we learn. dish network is just another way to have tv come into your home. they install this big dish looking thing outside. i can't tell u alot about it but u get alot more channels on it than u do cable. u can pick what u want to watch instead of cable putting on what they want on. tell u more about it after i learn more about it myself . if u want to know just let me know. be glad to help you w/anything.

We have Sky TV which is a dish on the wall and we have no problems at all so far.I expect there will be tv companies going bust .We have just heard of Tiscali who are going bust over in England people just have their phone cut off and their computer connection cut so how awful is that.It must be annoying to have channels cut especially if they are still charging the same,we have never had a problem with our dish and we have had this for about eight years.Good luck with yours if your like me you love your television.xx

The main drawback of dish network is that they charge more than the cable network well that's what is happening in our country then they do not offer many channels that the cable guys offer. i for now have cable network. i have no plans to shift to dish as of now.

Here Dish offers 250 channels at affordable prices. How many channels do you need? Probably different in other countries.

All these years i have had cable tv which was giving me indifferent service as at the important times it would get cut off. Moreover picture quality was mixed, some channels would be clear and some fuzzy. then again channels would keep appearing and disappearing like the Cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland. So 3 weeks back two of my neighbours and myself decided that we had enough as the cable operator was not giving any service and probably he was fed up with us cause we were constantly complaining. So we went in for Tata Sky dish Tv and got it installed. It is excellent and the picture and sound quality are superb. Moreover it works out cheaper than cable since we have paid for a year and we have to recharge it yearly. Another plus factor is that the picture will never disappear from the screen no matter what the circumstances, rain or shine. I can say that i am satisfied and so are my neigh bours. I also found that a number of people in my neighbourhood have also taken it and everybody has only good comments about it.So i would strongly recommend it if you are planning a changeover.

yeas I like it but now I think I should switch over to a new one as they are giving less number of channels but they are charging 1/3rh of the amount but the installation charge is heavy and they will take money for a whole year. That means if I am not happy with them after 2 months, I can't switch! So, a thinking is required before I call for them.

I don't have a satellite dish. I have digital cable and internet. We had a satellite dish years ago and I hated that we would lose the channels when it would rain. I do know many people who are perfectly happy with their dish.

It was ten years ago that we had a dish. You will likely have better results than we had then. I understand your issues with cable. We also have only one cable company in our town. With no competition they are free to raise the prices as they please, and they do.

Hello Jo. I don't have a choice but to bear with the services of the cable company here in my area due to building restrictions. The cable provider here has monopolized the industry and it also keeps on increasing the rate but service is poor from time to time. You're lucky to have that option. I'm happy for you. Thanks. Have a great weekend, my friend.

I have Dish network. It has its problems. Like when its stormy the satellite will often not pick up. I live in Mississippi so its stormy here alot. The program guide takes too long to load. A large portion of the channels I pay for are foreign speaking, music, infomercial, and other stuff I don't watch. The sound goes up and down on some channels. I can't get the local channels that I want. Unfortunately where I am there is no cable so I am stuck with satellite.

I am from India and I have having Dish TV. The cost of Dish TV here is very less and they cost about Rs 100 per month to Rs 275 per month according to the channels we select. I think it is affordable by most of people and have lots of channels. The quality of dish TV is also great.

I had Dish network for 18 months but went with DirectTV last June because of a really good deal they offered. My contract with Dis was up so went with Direct since they offered 39.95 for a year. No one else could beat that so made the switch. This contract will end in a couple of months and I may go back to Dish. I have to admit that Dish has the best patented technology in the industry. I could control my DVR recordings and playbacks in both rooms (use 2) with just one remote. That way I could record programs I wanted to see in room #2 without disturbing my husband's shows in room #1 and just watch it the next day in room #1 while he was at work. I really miss that; DirectTV doesn't have that. DVR recordings and playbacks have to be done in separate rooms on separate DVRs. Like everything else the prices kept creeping up, but not as bad as cable. Had cable years ago and will never go back. I think you will be very happy with your satellite dish connection. And they both have more digital programming than cable. Since everything goes digital in June there is no need to worry about converter boxes and the like.

No, I don't have a dish just the cable is available. I am quite happy with it as I get a good service. I have to pay extra for the Sport's Channels though so it is a bit expensive. We do what we have to do so if you have to make a change then you just have to do it. What can it hurt? It may be better or not but you are just trying. I do hope that his works out o.k for you. Blessings
