The worst teacher you have ever encountered...

I had one teacher before who would wash our mouths with soap... LITERALLY! I cannot fathom how inappropriate that was back then because I was just a kid, but thinking about it now: "Gee! That was a pretty terrible teacher!" I had nightmares as a kid of getting poisoned by the amount of soap that I have chewed on. I sure hope this kind of treatment is not happening in some schools today. * shivers at the thought * How about you? Have you ever encountered a really really bad teacher?

My teacher wasn't that bad, at least in the sense of inflicting physical "harm" on her students, but I had her in tenth grade so that may be why. This woman was the stereotypical "old-maid schoolmarm" - up there in age, at least to us teens, never married, lived with her sister who had also never married, wore what hair she had left in a bun... Anyway, my very first day in the high school I got lost on my way to her class and committed the worst possible sin in her book by being a minute or two late. From that day forward she hated my guts! I had her for second year French, a subject I excelled in my first, third and fourth years but struggled for low B's, high C's in her class. She based a fairly high percentage of her grades on class participation, which is understandable for a language class, but she would only call on me if I didn't raise my hand and she'd ignore me when I did. She made me stand up and read a passage from "Les Miserables" when I had laryngitis and could barely make a sound. The ultimate insult was when she cast me as a Christmas fairy in her annual play! The other 3 fairies were little girls who were barely five feet tall and there I was, 5'8". As was the case with an extraordinary number of teachers throughout my years in school, she retired at the end of the year I had her. If only I'd have been born a year later! Annie

From the way you described it, that sounds like a worse teacher than my soap-feeding one. I mean, she's clearly edging you out of her class. What a shame! I remember in high school we had that kind of teacher too. She had a reputation for being "difficult" but we managed to get on her good side. She's actually really friendly if you get to know her better. Thanks a lot for responding! I am marking this one as the best response. Happy myLotting!

Thanks for the BR! Do you want to know the funniest thing about this teacher? Spinster that she was, she favored the good looking jocks so blatantly it was hilarious. Those days there weren't many scandals about teachers seducing their students but I wouldn't be surprised if this woman tried a time or two...lol! Annie

Hey inkyuboz! You really had a teacher that was allowed to do that? We never had teachers that were allowed to even dare touch us where I lived! They would have gotten into so much trouble if they even put their hands on us! That was never allowed in NY where I came from! I can't imagine having your mouth washed out with soap! Ewww! That must have been really horrible and scary for a little kid!

Well our teacher may have been a firm believer of primitive "disciplinary techniques". It's a really bad way to instill good conduct, but the weird thing about it is that the school administration never made any move about it. Even the parents allow this to happen!

It's to be Ma'am Nicholas of Immaculate Conception. back in elemetary. I never became her pupil but what i witness was enough to make her the worst teacher. I was in grade four when Ma'am Nicholas would line up his male pupils in the hallway the let them pull their pants down. Including briefs. So imagine the traumatic humiliation where your most private part will be exposed for everybody to see during recess time. If it was my right there, i may not know what to do with her out of anger. It happened during the 80s. If it happened now, she would be in world news as well as facing lots of lawsuits.

Hello there inkyuboz. Your experience was really a shivering one. I never think that a teacher will do that. But well, let's expect the unexpected from a teacher. Even though they said that teachers are noble and they do help us in learning, they tend to go beyond their limits of doing. I have experienced from my teacher when i transferred in one of the universities here in our place. She's my English 3 instructor and i always like to hear her speak because she has a good accent. But i was devastated when she accused me of cheating with my seat mate just because we have mostly the same answers in one part of the exam. I wasn't even aware of it because i know that i didn't cheat and my seat mate at that time was also concentrated with her work. I know that she can have doubts but she was there when we had our exams. Our seats are also far from each other to avoid cheating and she can easily see a student peeking from another paper. And really, i never tried to cheat especially on exams date. I'm not even looking around when i have tests to avoid attention from any instructor and yet, that was i got from her. Until now, i didn't forgot the face of that person and i really make it a point to attend her class to pinpoint and to show her that there's no guilty conscience in my heart. I never thought that she'll give me a high grade in the finals but i was surprised when i get it. I guess she had come to her senses . But still, i will never forget her and i still hate her until now. I maybe able to forgive her if she will say sorry to me but i guess, she has high pride in herself.

Without naming the great teacher...I would like to say that the worst teacher of mine during the whole of my student life is a lecture in my college...He taught us Political Science..and he was too much biased towards communism..every now and then he inserted a theory of communism and never left a chance to show how great it is....I think that was too much...you must be rational in your view when teaching..even if you adhere to some principle...the fact was that no one in my class was a communist minded..so the whole class used to get irritated by his irrational lecture....

When in college my algebra teacher. She did not believe in explanations she did more on lecture from the book & showed no examples, so I dropped that class & choice to take it the next quarter & I am glad I did because I had an awesome teacher Mr. C. He was the best teacher at the college. He was in his 60's but he showed u how to do everything even how to use your scientific calculator. And he also told you which one was the best & easiest to use, LOL!!!!

I'm pretty sure the washing your mouth out with soap would be illegal now! If the things that bad teachers do was happening in any other profession, they'd be fired.. In elementary I had a teacher whom everyone else loved, but she clearly hated me. I got yelled at and sent to the principal's office on a daily basis for ridiculous reasons...ie:bringing paper out to recess (claimed I was purposefully going to give someone a papercut), for shaking my head no instead of saying no, or because she didn't like my handwriting.
