Yeah, I was thinking of a small biz. I'm a student and I want something to do this summer. I picked "Silkscreen printing" for my biz. So what do ya think about it? I have an idea how to do this thingie I'm just waiting for next week so I can go buy the items I needed then a lil experiment then good to go. any advice? I need your opinions coz It's like your my costumer, so I want to know what you want or something. I am aiming for a good quality print, simple as it be, and the quality of the shirt. I'm really looking forward to this so I have something to do this summer, I'm not for a big money, a little profit for my items is cool for me. Advice/Opinions please?? - Designs

I used to do screen printing. I guess you are going to buy the equipment. You need the carousel, the screens, inks, an ink drier, screen washing equipment, imaging equipment. I guess these days they have digital imaging equipment that is much easier. I have even heard of complete digital systems that eliminate most of the old equipment. Black or dark shirts need multiple "coats" of ink to look good. Long sleeves with screen on the sleeves are cool. My friend's band has hats and girl's strapped shirts, even underwear. You can screen a lot of different items.

The screen printing now is easier than before, they use photo emulsion for the designs, takes hour but really handy ^_~ Whats the Carousel thing? and Why do I need the washing equipment? Can I just put it somewhere to clean it? Thanks for sharing ^_~

We used photo emulsion when I did it. We needed a UV developer machine to harden the emulsion. The carousel is so you can do multiple colors and get them aligned properly with each other. You need a solvent (mineral spirits) to dissolve the inks from the screens. We used an automotive type parts washer(saftey cleen) without one, it is messy and wastes all of the solvent. If you want to reuse screens for a new job, you need to dissolve the emulsion with a special solution, and powerwash the screen.
