I wish it were that easy. I try to drink a lot of water but I am still hungry all the time. I did hear that drinking water will help to speed up your metabolism and maybe you will burn calories faster. But.....I eat chocolate faster than I drink water!

It does not really satisfy your food cravings but after eating, it does help with your digestion and satisfy your thirst - more often than not, most people think that they're hungry or are STILL hungry when in fact, they're only thirsty. In that case, they tend to eat more when they should be drinking more. Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Many times instead of being hungry, we are actually needing water. That is why it is best to drink water first. I try to avoid real cold water as it shocks my body. For a good reference on how to not give in to cravings, try this, it is working in our family very well. http://www.jongabriel.com.au/ If you are interested in the book, you can get it for around $10 at www.amazon.com or just try your local library. Our library has a waiting list on this one of over 100 people.

I have heard that drinking water is supposed to satify cravings, and I have tried this, but it does not seem to work for me in the long-run. Maybe for about ten minutes at the most. I think it is a misconception. I think drinking water before eating is a suggestion for satifying cravings because a lot of people confuse thirst with hunger, so therefore you are supposed to drink water to see if it is really a hunger pain instead of just being dehydrated. The best way to satisfy my cravings are to eat something like yogart or a hard-boiled egg with a large glass of water to wash it all down. This is good for like a snack and it will definately last longer then just drinking water by itself. The best way I know to maintain cravings is to eat five to six small healthy portions throughout the day.
