On the third day of the 3rd test between India and New zeland, Rahul dravid paddel sweeped delivery from Vettori he thoght he got runs, but when he saw back he was out caught. What do you think it was great planning or brilliant wicket keeping or just a fluke ?

I didn't see that happening but I read the commentery on cricinfo.com. As per the review, it was a brilliant wicketkeeping plus a good plan too! It can't be a fluke as the catch was taken by diving(I belive)!

Keeper didn't took it diving, the ball stuck in his body.

In the third test Rahul Dravid was caught out by Mccullum.Rahul paddel sweeped the ball and Mccullum went to his left to take the catch. I think this is briliant wicket keeping from Mccullum and also good bowling and captaincy from vettori.I thing it is a part of the game plan and Rahul just trapped into it.But this is a art of cricket.

I will call it a fluke of brillance. We see many or almost all the wicketkeepers going the direction of the ball, where ever they are standing - up to the stumps or away. It was just fluke. Had the ball got hit on the sweet part of the bat, then it would surely have travelled right up to the boundary line. Then where was the question of brilliance? Would the keeper travel all the way to the boundary line? Such flukes are quite normal in international cricket. There's nothing to make an issue out of it.

i didnt get to see the replay of that catch but on the first look it looked a well planned move.but luck has got something to do with because u can never be sure where a paddel sweep ball can go.but have to agree that it was a brilliant effort from baz.

i did not see the rahul dravid dismissal live on tv but heard about it and read in the newspaper about it. according to what i read mcullum tried the method of going acroos to the leg stumps a couple of times before taking the catch as well. so we cant say that the catch is a fluke but still he was lucky because it wouldnt have been a controlled catch. i think it was good technique that wicket keepers do not often try but brendon mcullum who is usually known for innovation while at the crease tried something different behind the stumps as wel ang got rewarded for it.

It was obviously great wicketkeeping and quick thinking by Mc Cullum. Dravid was too early with his action of sweeping the ball. Mc Cullum realized early on that Dravid was going to sweep the ball. So his intention was to field it well. But it came to him as a catch and he did not put it down.

All that Rahul Dravid the already set bats man got out for two reasons first Rahul should not have gone for the similar fashion again and second it it was a good inference by the wicket keeper that he could go for the similar shot again. Hence his dismissal was a planned one outrightly but not a fluke either, It was natural.
