It is recognised that Border Collies are the most intelligent of dogs. A German research group showed they can learn command words as fast as a human child learns language! They are very beautiful, affectionate, keen and eager to please and they are natural athletes. Mine run behind my Land Rover, sprinting at 30mph and will run for ever at 15mph. They developed in the cold climate of the border country between England and Scotland and were used extensively for driving sheep and cattle and can work sheep out of sight of the shepherd. If your looking for the dog in your picture it is a Labrador Retriever, it looks good, is very smart if you can tap into it's brain power and train it, it can live in cold or hot weather but you will have to provide needs for either climate. They are very active dogs and can not just be put in an apartment without exercise daily or you find it will make ways to occupy it's time by chewing, scratching doors, barking and basically anything that may peak it's interest.
