Fees for checked in baggage on airlines

Does anyone feel that airlines are being unfair for charging fees if you check in you bag? The fee is ridiculous. For instance American Airlines charges $25 for each bag you check in and if you have 2 bags to check in that $50 already. That $50 could be useful for something else.

It has been a couple years since I traveled, but those fees really seem outrageous! I am flying at the end of this month and really hope it doesn't cost $25 per bag. I find that a bit hard to believe, but you never know. I will have one bag to check and one carry-on bag, and my boyfriend will also have the same. Hopefully we won't experience such ridiculous and unfair fees!!
