Would you buy an electric car with this incentive?

Electric cars as a replacement for gas guzzlers - Gordon Brown wants UK drivers to buy electric cars and he's prepared to bribe them to do it!
April 9, 2009 8:25am CST
Uk Prime Minister Gordon Brown is making 'green' issues part of his agenda for economic recovery and is set to announce in his Budget a bounty of £2000 for scrapping old cars and buying a new electric model. See the whole story here http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/greenertransport/5126611/Motorists-offered-money-to-buy-electric-cars.html Would this kind of incentive make you ditch your gas guzzler? I believe the technology for alternative transport has been around for years but it was suppressed in the interests of the oil barons who run this planet (not the politicians!). What's your take on this?

OMG, it looks like it should be swinging from a keychain or that it came out of a Happy Meal. Not to mention that you'd be roadkill if you were in a wreck. If you go to the article, you'll notice the guy standing on the curb behind the car and the roof of the car only comes up to his chest! The car looks like it seats only 1 or maybe 2 if their tiny little skinny ppl. There's no truck it seems and barely any hood. Since I've never driven one I can't say whether their any good to drive though I've heard that the battery won't work in very cold weather which leaves out North America...and in the South an alligator could just about swallow that thing whole!! So no, I wouldn't trade in for it. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

This kind of cars are not yet readily available in our country. I have heard that it will come by late this year or next year. I do not know if there will be an incentive that will be given by the government later on but as long as its worth it, then it would be great.

HI there , Its a good initiative ,provided the new electric cars meets the average comforts a person is enjoying in the gas variants, else the whole initiative will nose dive on its launch. And yes your point of the tussel between oil barons and politicians is very true ,but if an automobile comes up with decent variety which meets all the comfort enjoyed so far then ,people would end up buying the electric cars. Or else if the tussel is too great then they can bring a variety such that it uses both gas and electric in a way making it more economical to a common man. Cheers.
