I have an 80GB PS3 console, but it doesn't play my old ps2 games. Is there a way to make it work?

Its sad to say, but the model you own doesn't have backwards compatibility. To save costs, Sony removed the Emotion drive that handled PS2 games. Though, as a ray of hope, there's always a chance that Sony could release a firmware update that brings with it a program for PS2 emulation (much like EU models, which use emulation for backwards compatibility, as opposed to the Emotion drive). In the meantime, dust off the ole' PS2!

I guess I have to wait for Sony to release a firmware update that brings with it a program for PS2 emulation. And I guess I have to scrap the idea of buying another PS2 console just to reminisce those good old PS2 games for a while. It's because my ps2 console's broken a couple of years ago. Bad luck for me for buying a wrong PS3 model then... But then again, I'll just wait for Sony to make a miracle.. :)

If it's one of the new ps3's then there is no way to make it play ps2 games becuase they are not being made with backwards compatability so they dont play ps2 games. However I have heard rumors of an update that will allow you to play ps2 games but thats probably not anytime soon. The only way is for sony to release something that allows you to.
