How do you find available tasks?

I'm such a newbie to this website, haha. :) I'm really interested in completing these so-called tasks for myLot, but when I click on the tasks bar it says that none are available for me at this time. Is this true throughout all of myLot - are there just no tasks available at the moment, or do I have to reach a certain member ranking or something in order to be able to see them?
