places to live and work for ex felons

A long time ago i was convicted of a pretty serious crime of which i spent nearly 8 yrs behind bars for. im on parole now and i have a tracking devices (its been 3 years since my release) but im looking for places to live and work. unfortunalty most places wont take people like me beacause of the crime i did. i need a place to live. i live in los angeles. its hard to talk about because i know ill be judged. im trying to change my life around i dont like what i did. any tips?

I dont know what you did but as long as you arent going to do it again and you did your time. I think you might have to prove yourself because people do have a tendancy to judge a person by thier past even though alot of times it isent fair. good luck to you.

It's really a stigma when one was jailed. I have a relative who was behind bars and he faced the same problem. It's not that easy for him to start a new life. Worst, his old friends were always visiting him, maybe courting him to join them again. Fortunately, another relative took him to work in a farm. Maybe you should also try asking your close relatives or friends to help you find a work. Some may have second thoughts helping you but others will surely empathize with your situation.
