Well I have been wanting to get another husky for my frost to have as a play mate and in general I love the breed you can never own just one. LOL!!! But I didn't really want to pay as much as I did for frost. Well periodically my breeder retires her dogs once they reach a certian age. Well it just so happened that she had a dog named jasimine that she was retiring and I inquired about her. To make a long story short the breeder said that the dog was food aggressive and wouldn't be a good fit for my family. She then told me about another dog that she was retiring in a couple of months and that she would be a perfect fit for the family. So I said ok and now this sunday I will be adding Volcano to the mix of my family. The kids are excited and so am I .. Have you found the perfect fit for your family? Would you take a retired dog from a breeder?

Huskies live until they are about 15 and this one is 7 yrs old so we have time ... She'll have a nice relaxed retirement. She still is quite young to be honest.

My friend has my camera right now because hers broke and she wanted to take pics of the hike she was doing today so probably about thursday I'll have my camera back and get some pics for you guys. But your right I have her right now and let me tell you she is terrified. She isn't use to human companionship and but she is fine with Frost because she is use to being with other dogs. I gave her a bath because she was really dirty and had some poop stuck to her tail. I feel so bad for her and I'm just giving her time to warm up and get use to her surroundings.

I guess that as my response to you is late, owing to computer problems, you already have Volcano with you. I hope all's going well for you, and yes, I would take a retired dog if I was going to have one. They deserve a good home as much as any other. Brightest Blessings, my friend.

I think I've got my computer running satisfactorily now, my friend. Volcano will soon get into the swing of things with your family I'm sure, and thank you... I'm glad to be back! xx

I hope your computer problems are done and that you have them fixed. All is going well and Volcano is still getting use to her surroundings. She wasn't socialized much so she is getting use to human companionship. But I agree with you that a retired dog deserves a good home. Glad you're back hun...

I'm so excited I have had some break throughs with her. One was she wouldn't eat table food and about 2 days ago I made chicken and mixed some in with her doggy food so that she could get some extra protien. (trying to get her to gain some weight after having puppies). She ate it so I cut up some more for her and she took it right out of my hand yahhhhh. Then today I came home from babysitting and I went over to her and told her I missed her and gave her praise of what a pretty girl she is and how much I missed her and usually she's blank with her emotion, today she wagged her tail. I was so estatic. I'm thinking she still has ways to go but at least she knows I love her. :)

Oh Honey I do so hope that Volcano lives up to all the expectations you all have - I am very sure that she will, how could she not fit in with your family? I am sure you will make the transition to a new home and family easy for her and I know how excited you have been about getting her! WE haven't got a dog but we did get Niamh 2 baby bunnies for easter (they are baby brother/sister replacements) and they keep us all amused and have made our family complete! The littlest bunny sweetheart does tend to bully our cat Tia a bit though! xxx

That has to be interesting a little bunny bullying a cat. LOL! I have to say that I'm not disappointed I'm just a little stunned that she is so shy that I have had her since sunday and it's friday and she still runs and hides in a corner. I feel like that I'm doing something entirely wrong I know that she's not use to people though...

She only ants to play with Tia but Tia is not having any of it - especially now that both bunnies want to play! lol So funny. I am sure that you are doing nothing wrong at all - give it time and give her plenty of the love that you always show and I am sure that she will settle eventually! Such a shame that you are struggling to get her settled now as I know how excited you were! xxxx

I know that it's not her fault so I'm still happy and I do love the poor dear. I love her to bits. I'm just worried about her and that she will never be accustomed to people.

I've always wanted a Siberian Husky. My father said that it's the most intelligent breed of dog. I just like them because they're huge and handsome. However, there's no way we'd be getting one for the family because we don't have the space for her. I think the family is more into cats than dogs - cats take care of themselves and are easy to get along with but dogs need time and a lot of attention. Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Dogs can take time depending on the situation. when I got my first husky frost he was a trip and so loving and now he still tries to sit on my lap. LOL!!!!I have cats too. They are more independent and take attention when they want it.

Good for you hon! I'm sure Volcano will be so happy in her new home.....and spoiled rotten to boot. LOL! I haven't taken in any retired dogs...yet. But if I had the room and the opportunity arose, I wouldn't mind bringing one into my zoo. I think the oldest dog I've taken in is Snuggles (don't let the name fool you...she can be the skankiest old battleaxe sometimes). She was 5 when I brought her home from my kids' dad's house. She still has food aggression and many little quirks, but she's my baby. I've had her for almost 7 years now and I wouldn't give her up for the world. Congrats on your new family member hon.

Thanks hun, I hope that you find a breeder in your area that does retire dogs free to good home. what I would do is just check it out and see if there are any in your area.
