Openion of friends ?

Before you watch a movie or read a book would you guys ask the opinion about that movie or book ? I usually ask them if its good or not , I wont let them tell the whole story ..

I usually ask who is in the movie and then I just ask if its good or not. If I like the actor or actress and they tell me the movie isn't good I will still check it out for myself. Just like I don't usually listen to the critics, because their taste will be different then my taste.
