I own two cats and have had them both spayed. One has not gained an ounce and the other one has gotten quite chubby. Both seem to be active and it just amazes me how 2 animals can differ so much. The one that gained the weight was onw my husband found in some hay bales and we bottle fed it for a few weeks. Wonder if being away from mommy has soemthing to do with her gaining weight?

I have 11 cats. All of which are fixed. Only 1 has gained significant weight. The others not so much or they've stayed the same. I think it depends on the cat. Sometimes it's in their genetics, too.

I've had 3 cats over the past 20 years or so, 2 females and one male. Its been my experience with my all cats that when they got both, spayed and neutered, they got saggy bellys. All 3 managed to fill the sag with fat though! LOL

Oliver, my bottle baby, is also fat. Now, Taj, until he lost so much weight last year was never fat, now that he's well and eatting again, he's gotten REALLY fat! Roxy got fat after she got spayed, but she was also underweight from nursing her kittens. so, I do think that a time of deprivation leads to a cat gaining weight.

no.it is because she is bottle fed and may get over fed..that is why she is chubbier.and of course spaying the cats makes them fat..they tend to be a little lazier..LOL
