What type of flowers can survive in the shade?

I am wanting to plant a few flowers in my small garden by the garage. The only problem I am up against is because the garden is close to the garage it doesn't have a lot of sun light that gets to it. I have looked at numerous flowers and they all state that they need some sun light and this spot gets no sunlight at all, it is all shaded in this area. I really like tulips and sweet williams but they need sun light to be able to survive. So I was wondering if anyone knew of any flowers that I can get the will survive in pure shade?
