As a Christian, I feel guilty everytime I miss hearing mass during Sundays. I feel like I neglected God for the whole week. Because I do believe that Sunday is a holy day. I am oblige to go to church to talk to GOd and listen to His words. I always keep in mind that every Sunday, time should be spend with GOd. So whenever I missed it, I always expect punishment from our Almighty God for neglecting Him.

Like you, sometimes there's a feeling of guilt whenever I miss attending mass during Sundays. The church is just near our house so if you'd think about it there could be no excuse for not attending mass. But laziness sometimes strikes me so I would forget about time and miss it. But I don't think that God would punish people for missing Sunday masses. I know God is good and he always forgives sinners. He always understands. As long as people try their best to be good, that's what's important.

Dear jcbelle, Going to Mass on Sundays is your personal commitment because you love God. You do not go to Mass because you want other people to notice you are practicing your religion. If you have a valid reason not being able to attend the mass you do not have to feel guilty. On the other hand, if you chose a non-valid priority, then you have to answer the consequences. God is not punishing anyone this a primitive way of knowing God. God is good, He gave his only Son because He loves each and everyone of us! Would you give someone who is so dear and precious in your life to show your love? You might need a deeper relationship with God to feel His love & mercy. Take care.
