I have a Dell XPS laptop. I've had it for almost 3 years now. Oneday I was in the middle of a game and it crashed. Now my display is all pixelated. I have to start in Safe Mode in order to make anything out. If I start in normal mode I can't make anything out. What could be wrong? I'm just trying to get an idea before I go spend money to get it fixed.

this is a hardware problem.when on safe mode, drivers are not loaded which means hardwares are not in full capacity. maybe that's the reason why you got in. my best guess is on hardware. goodluck with that

At first i thought it could be a hardware problem, but if its starting in safe mode then it cant be. Safe Mmode runs the bare minimum to start up. Since it only works in safe mode It is most likely a software issue. perhaps drivers or a virus thats effecting your computers display. I recommend getting the latest drivers and doing a virus and spyware scan.
