How are you going to handle your diet during the holiday season?

Will you be able to lose weight during the holiday season? Will you give up? If you go to weight watchers, will you stop counting your points, if you do low carb, will you have bread and candy?

I have given up on diets,, The minute I say I want to loose weight i eat like a pig. I find that if I just try and stay active, and not think about dieting , that's when I loose it. The word diet is like a fat pill for me. During the holidays well that's tough, soo much good food, just try and eat in moderation.

Don't ever give up if you are overweight. I had success with South beach diet after trying everything else.

I followed the south beach diet. I have basically cut out white stuff from my diet, sugar and white flour.

I don't know if I will do anything to handle my diet...right now I have absolutely no plans to do anything different.

i'm going to keep my goal of 110 in mind- that will keep me from jumping off the deep end. i don't want to slip back into compulsive overeating... so i'm limiting my intake to 1000 cals a day. for thanksgiving, thats like a slice of turkey with gravy and cranberry sauce!! i kid... i am sticking to the healthy part of the menu- and i won't overdo it.

I am hoping to do a similar thing. Keep it really simply and stay away from the starches and desert.

Losing weight during the holidays is very difficult and frustrating. I think it's better to try to maintain your weight, to not gain any weight. That way you won't feel like you have to deprive yourself at dinners and parties.

The word diet is an automatic promise to fail. In order to lose and maintain weight loss you need a change in eating habits. Nothing can be accomplished overnight but you can gradually work in healthy foods. Do some experimenting. For the holidays just try to maintain. Eat what you want but don't eat big portions.

I don't think the 'holidays' should make people eat any more or any less than their normal routine. We typically need to eat more during winter and become more sedentary - this is normal and natural... eating loads of unhealthy foods and sitting and slouching all day are not normal or natural. Summer months we eat less and are more active - our ancestors were very active hunting/gathering/cultivating food - we don't have to work as hard....

I am trying not to eat so much so that I can enjoy cookies during the holidays. That means that I restrict my protions for meals and then count the number of cookies I have. That way I keep track but still enjoy all that I can. Be careful of egg nog, it is high in calories, especially if it is REAL egg nog with run. Hot toddies are ok, as long as Tod shows up and is really hot.
