Do you often jerk around with English words, or toy with grammar, deliberately saying them wrongly just for fun SO MUCH that even during serious conversations or talk, you end up saying grammatically erroneous words or expressions because you got used to joking with it? Back in highschool, my English teacher appointed me to be a moderator in a debate. I was always fond of toying around with words such that when I asked the speaker to make her voice louder, I instead said, "Please louden your voice!" I definitely brought the classroom down, and embarrassed myself infront of the other teachers, and the PRINCIPAL! So FRIENDSHIPS, how about you? Any embarrassment momentations? ....and when is your HAPPY BIRTHDAY by the way?

This is what we call a slang language, isn't it? So, we start our own English language. We in our town we say, "carwa" or "trainma" or something like that. This is like mixing our common sense with English words, isn't it? Well, I don't remember any of those embarrassing moments. May be I didn't have any of those in my diary!

I was really embarrassed when as child, I had a habit of saying "jist" instead of "just". Correct English was very important in my school so the teacher made me stand in front of a large class and repeat "I mUst say jUst" 20 times and then write it on the blackboard another 20 times. When this ordeal was over I was asked "do you get it now" and my response... "jIst about". The teacher was mad at me at the class thought it was hilarious.

Oh sorry my greetings had to come late WH! :-( I barely had time to read the responses to my discussion. So I made use of what little time I had during the last 3 to 4 days to respond to discussions instead of replying to my responders and I am very very sorry. I guess I JIST have to greet anyway, not matter how late. HAPPY BDAY! hehe

Yeah, hehe, and the more I purposely twist my grammar the more prone I am to committing real mistakes. Thanks for sharing!

My Mom used to play with words often so I grew up not knowing how to pronounce several words, one was Asparagus, I was taught to say Asparagrass. Mom thought that was funny because it really is a grass. I was just embarrassed. And there wer a lot of other words also.

Well my mom ordered a Choco Mousse Cake a long time ago and pronounced it as, "Choco Mousy" as in MAWSI...lol. I thought it was just funny. And 2 years ago, I had a date and I ordered, "Choco House Cake" as written in the cardboard. Only to find out that it was Choco Mousse Cake and it was I who misread the M as H in the word mousse. Now we're even with my mom.

Did you mean it when you said AMBULANCE? Or was it an unintentional blunder? If it was a blunder....the secret is safe with me!

With my present work right now, you just don't know how crazy it is to be speaking with all those you mentioned. But even I am doing it, it helps me in at least communicating those who cannot speak and understand straight English. I've been working in multi national environment where people are less educated and learn little about English, I think more than majority is at stake. I am working in a remote medical field and most of the people uses English as their second or third language (that also includes me) but majority don't hold any college degree at all. So, in order for you to understand them and convey to them, you must step to their level and wear the same shoe as they have.

Ah yes, I get what you mean but I appreciate the fact that these people are now trying to learn English. At least now we can have a common language to better understand each other.
