she's confident, comes across as herself, has great self-esteem from all appearances and doesn't put on airs. She really is a breath of fresh air!
Do you wonder who I'm talking about? Susan Boyle
I watched the entire Youtube video of her singing at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY [NOTE: not a referral] and was even more impressed than I was from seeing the little clip the news offered.
By conventional standards, Susan isn't "pretty." Her beauty is of the type that will never wear out because of age. She's got it going on the inside. I think she's awesome. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

She knows how to sing and she has presence. She has a low voice, I think it is either an alto or a contralto and there are few lady singers who have that low calibre who can bring it out. She is not beautiful but then many good singers are not beautiful. It is the voice that counts. But it shows you unfortunately how that often looks matter.
Oh by the way, Joan Sutherland is not beautiful and she can sing. I watch a lot of You tube and some of the most beautiful singers have the plainest faces.

I appreciate your response. I'll check out Joan Sutherland. I do like a lower voice. If Susan was a soprano, I wouldn't be impressed enough to write about it. A woman at church who sometimes sings solo is a soprano. I look forward to the ending note.

Oh I have watched her both on the computer and on numerous tv shows. She is more beautiful then the people who live in plastic hollywood because she has beauty within. She sings like an angel and everytime I hear her she makes me cry. I don't believe she needs a makeover. Let her stay as real as she is. She just needs to sing thats all.

Wouldn't that be typical to want to change her outside appearance by doing a makeover. I think it would be a mistake. I totally agree with you.

I myself think she is a amazing singer and like they say to never judge a book by it's cover, we should never judge others by the way they look either. If I was able to vote for her she would definitely be getting my vote..I have seem this link atleast ten times and listened to it and I have yet to tire of hearing her sing. She will go far. I think she always has a deal in the making with a record label.Which is awesome.

Totally encouraging Joyce! Maybe some who think it is past their times to make their dreams come true can have hope of breathing life into them again..so may hope springs forth and people find the encouragement and run with it to refind and retry their own dreams.

I could sit all day long and listen to her sing.The beauty within comes out when she sings. She has a amazing voice. And I love hearing her sing.If she doesn't win,then something wrong!!!!!

Yes she does, I agree if she doesn't win then something is wrong...she is amazing and I feel that yes there is alot of competition out there but she is the top..and I hope she stays there till she wins, She deserves it I think.

I also watched the youtube clip on her performance in Britain's Got Talent... and i must say... she was awesome... i suddenly realized that if this person only had the courage to do just that in the past... we would have been enjoying her beautiful voice for a long time now...
But... i am so glad that she finally decided to join that contest... since now the whole world knows her... her story... and her beautiful angelic voice...

I did a discussion about Susan Boyle also. Isn't she incredible? I love how she came on the stage with a bit of a smirk on her face since she KNEW she had talent, even though at first the audience and the judges were laughing at her---they all changed their attitude when Susan sang that very first note...breath-taking! I watch that video nearly everyday...never get tired of it. And one can keep tabs of the latest updates of that show by going to the website Britain's Got Talent itself

I saw someone made a reference to opera singer Joan Sutherland. what a blast from the past as my mother was a die-hard Sutherland fan and had many of her albums....another singer not in the "looks" department was the French singer, Edith Piaf....what a voice she had!!! I have a remastered CD of her songs

Yes, she knew and when I saw the smirks of the judges turn to awe and shock, I was sooo happy to basically see them chew their original attitude and have to spit it out.

Prior to reading your post, a friend told me about this woman. I was about to search you tube and see for myself when I came across your post. You are indeed right Joyce. She sings like an Angel. She really has the talent. She may not be that beautiful as compared to celebrities, but she is a star to me!
