Cosmetic surgery........

I was watching a show on Nat Geo this morning.....and they were showing a documentary on cosmetic surgery......where people get their body uplifted through silicon implants( I wanted to make this readable for everyone hence not using the exact terms....i am sure you understand what it is)......I was shocked to see so many people both male and female getting their body uplifted through this artificial means( silicon implants) I felt that by doing this somewhere we are not accepting ourselves the way god created us.....I would consider it as going against the will of god...... What are your views on this ???? Do you think it is OK for a christian to get silicon implants done in his body ????

In my opinion, I don't think a Christian should alter the way God created him or her. I believe the only justifiable way for a Christian to undergo cosmetic surgery is not for aesthetic reasons but for reconstructing body parts that have been damaged by disease as in the case of a person who has had a mastectomy because of cancer or to repair damage to body parts due to accidents.

Oh yes i agree with you when you say that it can be used for people with some disease and need proper attention....there is no way out in such cases....but just to enhance your beauty....that's the question ????

I understood the question and I think I answered it before I went into saying that there is only certain instances when someone can undergo surgery to alter his/her looks. To alter one's look for beauty or aesthetic purposes is to show discontent with the way God has designed us.

I believe that having such is a sin against God as we were all made 'in his image' so should respect ourselves for who we are. Though i think that if someone was truly unhappy God would understand.

For me, some of the results of the surgery is even uglier than original.perhaps God has created us that look because it is what looks appropriate for our personality. So, I rather just improve my self w/o surgery
